Let me be upfront, because being upfront is the entire point of this website.

Some of the links on The Global Skin Edit are affiliate links. That means if you click one and go on to buy something, the shop pays me a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. The price is exactly the same as if you had found the product yourself.

That is genuinely all an affiliate link is: a normal link with a little tag on it that tells the shop you came from me. I hold no stock, I sell nothing directly, and I never see your payment details or your order. The shop handles all of that.

The rules I hold myself to

Because I know exactly how much of this industry runs on getting paid to say nice things, here is my promise to you, in plain terms.

I write the verdict before I add the link. I decide whether something is any good, based on the evidence and my own experience with it, before I ever go looking for where to buy it. A commission has never turned a "save your money" into a "worth a shot," and it never will.

I only ever link to things I would genuinely recommend, or that I am pointing you toward as the honest, cheaper alternative to something overhyped. If I tell you to skip a product, I am not quietly earning from it.

I happily tell you to buy nothing at all. Plenty of my verdicts do exactly that. An affiliate link is an option, never a nudge.

I buy the products I review myself, at full retail price. I do not accept free products from brands in exchange for coverage. My opinion is the only thing I have to offer you, and it is not for sale.

Which shops

Where I link to products, those links may go to retailers and networks including, over time, Commission Factory partners (such as Australian beauty and department stores), Amazon Associates, YesStyle and similar. If that list changes, this page will change with it.

Why I do it this way

Running a website costs money, and the affiliate commissions help keep this one going without me having to take sponsorship deals that would compromise what I tell you. It is the least intrusive way I know to keep the lights on while staying completely honest with you. If that ever stops being true, this whole website stops being worth anything, and I know it.
